Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Oru mobile application and related services (the “Service”), operated by Oru Inc. (“Oru,” “we,” “us”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who we are and how to contact us
Oru is operated by Oru Inc. You can contact us at support@oru.is.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
3. Accounts and security
To use the Service, you may need to create an account (for example, using email/password, Sign in with Apple, or Google sign-in). You are responsible for:
- Keeping your credentials secure.
- Activities that occur under your account.
- Providing accurate information and keeping it up to date.
We may suspend or terminate access if we believe your account has been compromised or if your use violates these Terms.
4. Your content
4.1 You own your content
You retain ownership of the content you submit to the Service (“User Content”), such as journal entries, tasks, goals, chat messages, notes, and media uploads.
4.2 License you grant to us
To operate the Service, you grant Oru a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, modify (for formatting and technical purposes), and display your User Content as necessary to provide the Service and its features (including features that generate summaries, insights, and search results).
4.3 You are responsible for what you upload
You represent that you have the rights to submit your User Content and that doing so does not violate law or the rights of others.
You agree not to upload or share content that is unlawful, infringing, abusive, or that violates the privacy of others.
5. AI features and important disclaimers
5.1 AI outputs may be inaccurate
Some Service features use automated systems (including third-party AI providers) to generate suggestions, summaries, classifications, and chat responses. These outputs can be incorrect, incomplete, or misleading. You are responsible for how you use them.
5.2 Not medical or mental health advice
Oru is not a medical device and does not provide medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice. Do not use the Service for emergency purposes. If you think you may be in danger or need immediate help, call emergency services or a qualified professional.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service in a way that violates law or infringes rights.
- Attempt to access or probe non-public systems or data.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code except where prohibited by law.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service (including abuse, scraping, or denial-of-service).
- Use the Service to develop or train competing models using content from the Service without our permission.
We may limit or suspend access to protect the Service or other users.
7. Subscriptions, paid features, and purchases
The Service may offer paid features or subscriptions. If you purchase a subscription through the Apple App Store:
- Billing, renewal, cancellation, and refunds are handled by Apple and subject to Apple’s terms.
- We do not have access to your full payment card details.
We may change pricing or offerings, but we will do so in accordance with applicable law and platform rules.
8. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information. By using the Service, you agree to our Privacy Policy.
9. Intellectual property
The Service (including software, design, branding, and all non-User Content materials) is owned by Oru or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited rights expressly granted to you, we reserve all rights in the Service.
10. Third-party services
The Service may integrate with third-party services (for example, Apple and Google sign-in, Apple Health/HealthKit, and third-party AI providers). Your use of those third-party services is governed by their terms and policies, and Oru is not responsible for third-party services.
11. Termination and account deletion
You may stop using the Service at any time. You may be able to delete your account in the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we must do so to protect the Service, users, or comply with law.
12. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ORU DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ORU WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ORU’S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO ORU FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM OR (B) $100.
14. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Oru and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, excluding its conflict of laws rules, except where prohibited by law.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice (for example, in the app). Continued use of the Service after the effective date of the updated Terms constitutes acceptance.
